This training is designed for project managers, project team members, and project owners looking to enhance their skills in project planning and execution. It is also valuable for program managers, PMO professionals, and support functions such as finance, quality, risk management, procurement, and HR.

Day 1

  • Presentation of participants and their expectations, training objectives and content 
  • The definition of a project and its benefits, the life-cycles and phases 
  • Project Initiation. The preparation of a project brief, the projects benefit and results objectives 
  • Choosing the case-projects for the training. Case-Exercise 1: Preparation of Benefit and Results objectives 
  • Project assignment and the road-map 
  • Creating the project organization, roles and responsibilities of the project team 
  • Identification of Stakeholders. Case-Exercise 2: Preparation of a stakeholder analysis 

  • Preparing a project plan – formats, best practices and planning techniques 
  • Project scope definition utilizing Product Breakdown Structures (PBS) and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) – criteria and techniques   
  • Case-Exercise 3: Preparing a PBS and WBS 

  • Schedule Management. Preparing a timetable, work-load estimates, dependencies and scheduling 
  • Risk Management. Identification, assessment, measurement design and monitoring 
  • Case-Exercise 4: Preparing a Risk Management Plan 

Day 2

  • Principles for success in project work. Methods and tools in the execution phase 
  • Project meetings. Different type of meetings, templates and best practices 
  • Project reporting and communication. Best practices and challenges. 
  • Case-Exercise 5: Preparing a Communication Management Plan 
  • Change control. Benefits, principles and processes 
  • Leading people in projects. Focus changes through the stages. The role of the PM. Characteristics of good leadership 
  • Small group discussions 
  • Leading people with different behavioral styles – The DiSC-model 
  • Motivation. Creating team member commitment. Team development phases 
  • Conflict handling. Principles, challenges and best practices 
  • Small group discussions 

  • Commitment to change and change resistance – best practices 
  • Time management, time wasters, goal setting and priorities 
  • Small group discussions 
  • Project closure – tasks and risks 
  • What is a successful project
